(Phoenix, Arizona) – Earlier this month, a Maricopa County Grand Jury indicted Sidney Garfield Garrand (09/74) with seven felony counts. Garrand is facing one count of second-degree murder, a class one felony, one count of attempt to commit second-degree murder, a class two felony, three counts of endangerment, class six felonies, one count of discharge of a firearm at a structure, a class three felony, and one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits, a class six felony.
In late October of this year, an 8-year-old passenger died from a gunshot wound after Garrand and another driver engaged in an argument. Garrand was arrested by Phoenix Police and is currently being held in a Maricopa County Jail with a $500,000 cash only bond.
“Senseless violence is unacceptable in this community. An innocent child was killed and no matter what is happening on the road, violence is never the answer,” said County Attorney Rachel Mitchell.
