National Law Day is celebrated each year on May 1st and this year the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office proudly recognizes our more than 350 prosecutors and civil attorneys who work to ensure community safety and justice are served, and that the fight for the personal rights and liberties we enjoy every day continues. Our prosecutors and attorneys derive guidance from statute and case law and they play an important role in seeing that justice is done. Maricopa County families rely on our attorneys to keep them safe and to seek truth and justice for victims.
MCAO prosecutors make important charging decisions and work with police departments to identify serial offenders, participate in community task forces, teach citizens about the criminal justice system and engage neighbors on ways to identify and prevent crime. They talk to students about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse – and also find time to be successful parents, grandparents, babysitters and sons and daughters.
Attorneys at MCAO are problem solvers, law enforcement partners, community members, business owners and members of neighborhood associations and schools. They enhance the quality of life in our community, not only through criminal and civil prosecution, but through their work with the MCAO Citizens Academy, Community Education, Citizens Safety Forums, Neighborhood Summits and membership in task forces and community groups.
National Law Day encourages us to remember the role of law in the foundation of the country and recognize its importance. We celebrate our hard-working attorneys today and every day, and thank them for the important work they do.
