PHOENIX— Dion Earl (D.O.B. 03-13-1972) was found guilty by a jury of Sexual Assault, Sexual Abuse, Assault, Public Sexual Indecency and two counts of Kidnapping for his actions involving two victims who he hired as babysitters.
“Today’s verdict shows our commitment to holding this defendant accountable and seeking justice for the young girls who he preyed on for his own selfish desires,” said Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery.
In September of 2017, police received a report that the defendant had assaulted a teen he hired as a babysitter for his children. It was the victims first time working for the defendant and she was asked to come to the home as a trial run. However, once inside the home the defendant tricked her into going into a bedroom where he restrained and assaulted her.
While detectives were investigating the case another teen victim reported to the police that she had been assaulted by the defendant. The victim was hired as a babysitter by the defendant and after working at the home several times, she said she was assaulted by the defendant who restrained her in his bedroom.
During the investigation the defendant told detectives the none of the allegations by the victims were true, but then changed his story to say that he had cuddled with one of the victim in his bedroom and claimed it was the victim who assaulted him.
Sentencing in this case is set for October 11, 2019.
