PHOENIX— Justin Allee (D.O.B. 07-09-1984) was sentenced today to 22 years in the Department of Corrections after being found guilty by a jury of child abuse for violently shaking his infant daughter causing significant brain injuries.
“A parent who causes such significant harm to their child like this must be held fully accountable for their actions,” said Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery. “The degree to which any society can be judged civilized is, in part, to the degree that we protect and defend the most innocent and defenseless among us,” Montgomery added.
On January 14, 2015 the defendant called 911 after his infant daughter stopped breathing and was limp. At the hospital doctors discovered the infant had numerous injuries consistent with the violent shaking of an infant. Initially the defendant claimed he accidentally dropped his daughter in the tub while trying to bathe her.
During the six-week trial prosecutors were able to explain the types of injuries and causes of the injuries to the jury and how they were linked to an act of frustration by the defendant.
