PHOENIX— Dennis Pitman (D.O.B. 08-03-1947) was sentenced today to 96 years in the Department of Corrections after being found guilty by a jury of 17 counts of Molestation of a Child and five counts of Sexual Conduct with a Minor.
“Today’s sentencing ensures that this defendant will never have the opportunity to harm another child,” said Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery. “His predatory actions against the most innocent and defenseless among us, and family members too, offend our most basic notions of proper conduct. He will appropriately die in prison.”
In March of 2013 investigators were first alerted by a now adult victim, that she had been molested multiple times by a family member while growing up and that he may have molested other young girls as well.
Investigators were able to locate and speak with three other women who also admitted they were molested and sexually abused by the defendant as young girls. The victims all grew up together or were relations of the defendant, which is how he was able to gain access to them. Each one of the victims had a different story of the level of abuse they suffered, however each were targeted by the defendant over several years, some starting at the age of just five years old.
