PHOENIX—Josef Dixon (D.O.B. 04-01-1990) was sentenced today to 190 years in the Department of Corrections after being found guilty of 14 counts of child prostitution and one count of drug possession.
“Today's sentencing should serve as an example of the type of punishment we will pursue for anyone who desires to profit from sex slavery. Make no mistake, whenever and wherever we can, we will partner with law enforcement to make Maricopa County the most unwelcome place to exploit children,” said Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery.
On May 5, 2017 officers watched the defendant take part in a drug sale outside of a convince store near 27th Avenue and Indian School before getting back into a vehicle with some women. When officers then contacted Dixon about the drug sale, they found he was in possession of both drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Officers also interviewed the women who were in the car. They learned two of the women were actually a 15-year-old girl and 16-year-old girl who told officers Dixon was their pimp. The girls said both Dixon and another woman, later identified as 28-year-old Miesha Tolliver, had been selling sex with the girls through online ads. The girls were driven to “dates” where they were told to preform sexual acts with various men who paid the defendant upfront for their time with the girls.
When interviewed, Tolliver admitted to photographing the victims naked and posting ads of them online for prostitution. She admitted that she and Dixon knew he victim’s ages. She also told investigators that Dixon was working as the victims’ pimp and would transport the victims and take the money they earned. Dixon denied that he was serving as the victims’ pimp.
Tolliver was sentenced on November 2, 2018 to seven years in the Department of Corrections followed by three years of probation.
