PHOENIX— Rebekah Mellon (D.O.B. 09/09/1980) pled guilty to 2nd Degree Murder for the shooting death of her husband Donald Mellon at their home in 2012. She will not be eligible for early release and faces a sentencing range of 18-22 years in the Department of Corrections
“This defendant is being held fully accountable for her actions on that day and the loss of life she caused,” said Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery. “It is important for the public to understand that this plea does not offer discounted consequences, but requires accountability without requiring a full presentation of evidence to a jury at trial.”
On July 31, 2012 police responded to the Phoenix home of Rebekah Mellon after she called 911 to report her husband was dead. Later investigators found home surveillance video that showed the shooting taking place inside the home and identified Rebekah as the shooter.
Sentencing for Mellon is scheduled for March 3, 2017.
