PHOENIX, AZ (October 28, 2011) – Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery confirms his office will pursue the case against the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission following today’s Superior Court ruling disqualifying the Attorney General’s office from prosecuting the case due to a conflict of interest. Attorney General Tom Horne referred the case to the County Attorney this morning.
“We will endeavor to conclude this matter thoroughly, justly, and promptly,” said Montgomery. “Until the matter is resolved, I will have no further comment,” he added.
The County Attorney’s Office will seek to maintain the original schedule for the case, which was initially set for a hearing on November 7th but was subsequently vacated and rescheduled for November 30th.
