Trial Division

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office covers an area of more than 9,000 square miles and each neighborhood with in this vast area can have its own unique crime issues and challenges. To best serve the large and diverse community across the county MCAO expanded its community-based prosecution model in 2017, growing from four large regional bureaus to eight geographically structured bureaus. By doubling the number of bureaus and creating smaller areas of coverage, the office was able to provide front line prosecutors a more direct link to working with law enforcement agencies, residents, and business leaders to collaborate on effective public safety strategies.

This change has allowed the office to strengthen its partnerships with law enforcement and have closer working relationships with each community we serve. These growing collaborations and partnerships are creating encouraging results that include decreased crime rates and better communication regarding public safety across the entire county.
